Toddler Care Tips – Smart Baby Play
To a baby, learning and play are the same thing. Smart kids learn about their world by playing. Parents can also learn the thoughts of their babies by observing them when they are playing. Parents can additionally get a faint idea of all the problem solving and decision making process in their infant’s developing mind by sharing and observing a baby’s play.
Brainy games
Smart connections are made by the games babies play. The same games can stimulate trillions of brain nerves making intelligent connections. It is important to be careful when playing games with the baby. An infant should be allowed to rest often, or a print should end the game after a while.
Face to face game
Facial games are the favorite game for babies. An example of a good game to make a smart baby is holding your baby within the bests focusing distance. This is usually about eight to ten inches. At this point, stick out your tongue as much as you can. You will know you have registered a hit when your baby tries to do the same. Try the same game by changing your lip’s contour or by opening your mouth wide. Facial expressions are also a good way to go. A yawn is a good place to start as it is easy for the baby to register.
Mirror games
The best way to play face imitation games is mirroring your baby’s expression back to her. When the baby grimaces, opens her mouth or eyes wide or frowns, mimic her expressions while exaggerating the same. The baby will see her face in the parent. Such a game is a powerful enforcer of the self-awareness of your baby. Babies enjoy mimicking changing facial expressions. It is similar to a dance whereby you lead and your baby follows. Nothing is more entertaining to a smart baby like a face.
Other games
Grab and shake – These are basically games you play using small cuddly blankets, rag dolls, rings or rattles. Babies love these games and they can play them for long periods.
Sit and hit – Dangle an interesting mobile or toy within the infant’s reach. Watch him as he tries to gather it in his arms or punch it.
Finger games – Give the toddler 6 inches of yarn to play with. Watch how the baby uses their arms, hands and fingers. Watch how they intently focus on the string. Keep in mind that you should closely supervise your baby when they are playing with strings as this will prevent a choking hazard.
Roll games – Such games are best played on foam bolsters. Foam bolsters are great for the baby as they will be able to jump on them and even roll around without harming themselves. If you do not have one, you can use a large cushion as an alternative. You can place some toys on the cushion to keep the baby busy.
Allowing the child to play on their own or with you creates smart connections as you will be communicating with them throughout the games.
